This is an original 1873 black and white double-page wood engraving of a painting by John Pettie (1839-1893) entitled, “The Flag of Truce”, that portrays a scene from the Jacobite rising of 1745, (or “the Forty-five”) that took place during the War of the Austrian Succession.

This 140+ year old Item is rated Very Fine ++. Moderate aging in margins. Some light surface rub. Small tear – right margin. Please note: There is an original center crease.
